Frequently Asked Questions

Rates? How much will my tattoo cost?
All prices are based on an hourly rate of $150 an hour so there is no under or over-charging. There are variant factors that can effect the amount of time taken; such as style, placement, size, etc.

If your price shopping I am not the artist for you; I value quality over quantity. I am average and fair in prices so don’t haggle me please. If you have a buddy that can do it for less, just go to them.

Full and half-day rates are available for large pieces that require multiple sessions. If your tattoo falls into this category you will be informed during email response or during consultation.

Prices start at a $50 minimum

Price estimates? How much will my tattoo cost?
Estimate prices can be provided once all information (style, placement, size, etc.) is collected about future tattoo. Estimates will be given during time of consultation in person. For the best estimate, provide as much information as possible. Final price is based on time taken to complete tattoo; see “rates” above.

Setting up appointments and consultations?
Fill out the tattoo request form provided on website (here). This form keeps my work life from taking up so much of my personal time - filling one out is greatly appreciated!! It also allows for easier booking and keeps things organized. Usually I am quick to respond, however, allow 3-5 days for responses.

Whats your schedule like? Do I need an appointment?
I am appointment only. I prefer appointments so I can make time to focus on and prepare each tattoo.

Lately I have been booking out a few months at a time. I do have occasional openings for small tattoos. I usually make a story / instagram post if so. (If I am unavailable, reach out to our shop facebook:

https://m.facebook.com/blackdahliatattoogallery/

We have plenty of other talented artists at our shop I can refer you to).

Do I have to have a consultation?
Consultations are required for pieces that will take 3+ hours. Consultations are not required for smaller tattoo appointments, but still preferred. It is easier in person to get a feel for what you're looking for in your future tattoo. There is no charge for consultations. There may be a required deposit if we proceed with the booking process. Consultations are 10-20 minutes on average and normally held at noon throughout the week. If this time does not work with your schedule, please let me know and we'll work something out. Email to set up a time and day.

Deposits?
Deposits are required for all tattoo appointments. I normally ask for $30-$60. This goes towards the price of your tattoo. As well as secures your spot in my schedule. Deposits are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule just let me know! Life happens and I get it. Deposits can be transferred to your new tattoo date if you communicate with me about it. I ask for at least 72 hours notice please. If you no-call no-show, or tell me the night before, I'm not going to be so understanding.

Finishing others artists' work and cover-ups?
Very selective on these sorts of projects. Most likely going to be turned away at this time. I do not enjoy taking on such projects. I’m all about people getting the best tattoo that they can, and I am not the best at cover-ups lets just be honest here. You should definitely go to an artist who is stoked about doing your tattoo, and will give you the best work possible.

Cancellations and Reschedules?
Not a problem! Life can get busy and things come up. Please provide as much notice as possible (preferably 72 hours or more). Deposits will roll over into re-scheduled day and time (no need for second deposit).

Drawings?
Without an appointment in place or deposit, drawings will not be provided. If we have an appointment set, we can set up a time and day to see the drawing beforehand. If you do not have an appointment set, no, I will not draw something up if I feel like it in my free time. Do you enjoy working for free in your free time? Thats not meant to be a rude nor rhetorical. I love drawing but if I have free time I’m going to be putting it towards my future tattoo appointments. I will do commission drawings for an hourly rate.

My appointment is weeks away, when will you start drawing on it?
Focusing on each individual week at a time, stencils for appointments will be drawn in certain order to keep things efficient and organized. As the week approaches for your tattoo, it will then become part of my focus and priority. Stencils are on average ready 1-3 days in advance depending on the size and detail of the design.
Not a problem to see stencils before the appointment, however, please set up a time and day to do so.

Stencils are not sent out and must been seen in person.
